Updated October 2026 · Covers sales completed 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026 (the latest month in HM Land Registry's data).

What are homes in Bury actually selling for? Asking prices only tell half the story. These are the prices buyers really paid, from HM Land Registry.

Area covered: Bury town within Bury borough: postcode district BL9 (town centre, Fishpool, Freetown, Moorside, Walmersley, Nangreaves and the BL9 part of Unsworth) and the parts of BL8 1 and BL8 2 that are not in Elton or Walshaw. Chris's view

Bury itself has been remarkably steady. The typical home sold for £230,000, within 1% of the year before, and the medians for detached (£360,000), semi-detached (£250,000) and terraced homes (£170,000) are all virtually unchanged. Fewer sales have been recorded so far, but that is mostly the usual delay in registering them. In a flat market buyers can compare plenty of similar homes, so realistic pricing matters more than ever.

About these figures

  • Source: HM Land Registry Price Paid Data, standard residential sales at full market value (category A). Repossessions, buy-to-let company purchases and other non-standard transfers (category B) are excluded, as are duplicate records of the same sale.
  • These are all recorded sales in the area, by every agent and private sale. They are not Bowman Estates sales unless we say so.
  • Land Registry data runs behind the market. Sales typically appear a few weeks to several months after completion, and the latest month published here is August 2026.
  • Boundary: as described under "Area covered" above (postcode sectors with sales: BL8 1, BL8 2, BL9 0, BL9 5, BL9 6, BL9 7, BL9 8, BL9 9). Each postcode is counted on only one Bowman Estates sold-prices page, so no sale is double counted.
