Edenfield sits above the River Irwell, just over a mile north of Ramsbottom. Scout Moor and Dearden Moor rise to the east, and there are views across the valley to Holcombe Moor and the Peel Monument. It is in Rossendale, Lancashire, but it shares Ramsbottom's BL0 postcode and community. That makes it one of the most practical villages in our area for anyone who wants countryside on one side and Greater Manchester on the other.

At its heart is Market Street, lined with late-Victorian stone terraces and village shops. The Grade II listed parish church dates from the 18th century, and John Betjeman described it as "unspoiled, unspruced Georgian". Around the village there are terraced cottages, family semis and modern detached homes. Tawny Close has been one of the busiest streets in our area for sales over £500,000 in recent years.

For families, Edenfield Church of England Primary School on Market Street was rated Outstanding in every area at its April 2025 Ofsted inspection. Edenfield falls within the priority area for Haslingden High School and Sixth Form, and Woodhey High School in Ramsbottom is also close by.

The M66 ends at Edenfield and becomes the A56 bypass, so Bury and Manchester are an easy drive away. For the train, Metrolink trams run from Bury Interchange into Manchester city centre. The heritage East Lancashire Railway stops at nearby Ramsbottom.

Edenfield is a walker's village. Popular routes include Waugh's Well, a hillside memorial to the Lancashire dialect poet Edwin Waugh, and the walk through Dearden Clough to "Plunge", where the ruins of an old mill and its waterwheel pit can still be seen. Closer to home there is Edenfield Cricket Club, the recreation ground and the community centre.
