Holcombe Brook sits at the foot of Holcombe Hill, between Ramsbottom, Greenmount and Holcombe village. The Peel Monument, built in 1852, stands on the hill above, and much of the moorland around Holcombe is cared for by the National Trust. Village life is still close at hand, and that mix has long made Holcombe Brook one of the most popular addresses in the Bury area.

The village grew up around the old Bury to Holcombe Brook railway. Its station closed to passengers in 1952, but you can still see parts of the old station walls beside the shopping precinct. Today the homes are a mix of stone cottages, traditional semis and generous detached houses. Longsight Road and the Holcombe Brook end of Bolton Road West are home to some of the area's most valuable homes, with several recent sales over £1 million.

Families are well served. Holcombe Brook Primary School is on Longsight Road, and Emmanuel Church of England Primary School is just up the hill in Holcombe. Woodhey High School, for ages 11 to 16, is on Bolton Road West.

Bury town centre is a short drive away, and Metrolink trams run from Bury Interchange into Manchester city centre. The M66 is easy to reach via Ramsbottom. Summerseat and Ramsbottom stations on the heritage East Lancashire Railway are close by.

Day to day, the village has a Co-op, a small precinct of independent shops and services, a family-friendly pub and cafe bars for brunch or an evening drink. On your doorstep, National Trust paths climb Holcombe Hill to the Peel Monument and across Holcombe Moor. The Kirklees Trail, which follows the old railway line, starts in neighbouring Greenmount and runs towards Tottington and Bury.
